Saturday 31 October 2009 @ 12:10 pm

If the body temperature of the female dog goes much below normal it is a sign of the dog having serious diseases. If the allantoic membrane or water bag breaks it is a sign for stage 1.

The dog undergoes forceful abdominal contractions after which it delivers the puppies. If the mother does not remove the membranes of the placenta that is enveloping the puppy you must do it because the puppy will get suffocated. Once the bleeding stops place an iodine swab on the navel cord, dry the puppy using a towel and position it with the dam. If the presence of the new puppies makes her nervous then place the puppies in a box thereby separating from the mother until full completion of the delivery.
